Punjab police had previously warned of threat; protests erupt across Rajasthan following the murder

• Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead at his home in Jaipur by three assailants on December 5, 2023.
• One of the assailants, Naveen Singh Shekhawat, was killed in the crossfire, while the other two, identified as Rohit Rathore Makrana and Nitin Fauji, managed to escape.
• Punjab police had previously alerted their Rajasthan counterparts about a threat to Gogamedi's life from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but no security was provided.
• Rajasthan Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the killing and are conducting raids to apprehend the two remaining assailants.
