Overview
- Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, Joby Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure signed an initial agreement on Monday to introduce passenger eVTOL services in 2027.
- The first phase targets Dubai International Airport–Al Marjan Island in the first half of 2027, followed by Al Marjan Island–Jebel Jais in the second half of 2027.
- Joby says the Dubai–Al Marjan trip could drop from over an hour by road to under 15 minutes by air.
- The service is slated to start as on-demand with no set frequency, and fares are not final but are expected to use per‑mile pricing with higher early-stage costs.
- Skyports will develop vertiports off a 2024 MoU with RAKTA, and the launch is timed to support RAK tourism growth including the Wynn Al Marjan resort, with a local RAK service also planned.
