Rare Spherical Egg Auctioned for £200 to Support Youth Mental Health

The one-in-a-billion round egg, discovered in Scotland, was sold at a UK charity auction to fund mental health programs for young people.

  • A perfectly spherical egg, an extremely rare phenomenon with a one-in-a-billion occurrence, was sold for £200 (approximately ₹21,500) at a charity auction in the UK.
  • The egg was first discovered by a woman in Ayr, Scotland, in a box of eggs purchased from a local Asda supermarket.
  • Ed Pownall, a man from Berkshire, initially purchased the egg for £150 after spotting it for sale at a pub and later donated it to the Iuventas Foundation, a youth-focused mental health charity.
  • The Iuventas Foundation auctioned the egg alongside other items, raising a total of £5,000 to support mental health services for individuals aged 13 to 25.
  • Proceeds from the auction will help the charity expand its programs, reaching more young people struggling with mental health challenges or facing long wait times for support.
