Rare 1787 Copy of US Constitution to Be Auctioned

Discovered in an old filing cabinet, the document is one of only eight known signed copies and could fetch millions.

The auction will be held on September 28 in Asheville, North Carolina, with a starting bid of $1 million.
This copy was printed after the Constitutional Convention and is the only known one in private hands.
The document was found in a neglected room of a house once owned by North Carolina's former governor Samuel Johnston.
It includes a letter from George Washington urging ratification, emphasizing the need for compromise.
The last similar document sold in 1891 for $400; another Constitution copy sold in 2021 for $43.2 million.
