Overview
- Rapunzel announced a recall for Rapunzel bioSnacky Rotklee 30 g, batch 11293 (MHD 12/2028) after an official Bavarian sampling on Friday found Shigatoxin-producing E. coli (STEC/EHEC).
- The recall applies only to the identified lot (Artikelnummer 690280, EAN 4006040169871) and consumers are told not to eat the seeds or sprouts from that batch.
- Customers may return affected packs for a full refund at the place of purchase or dispose of the seeds and any sprouts as household residual waste.
- STEC/EHEC infections typically cause diarrhea and abdominal cramps within about a week and can rarely lead to haemolytic‑uremic syndrome and kidney failure, so anyone with severe or long-lasting symptoms should seek medical care and say they may have been exposed to STEC/EHEC.
- Authorities have issued a nationwide warning in Germany and noted deliveries to Austria, Italy and the UK, investigators are following up, and the case highlights that warm, moist sprouting conditions can amplify bacteria and prompt targeted recalls to prevent wider spread.
