Overview
- The 41-year-old, real name Justin Clarke-Samuel, admitted causing the death of 20-year-old student Yubin Tamang, who was struck on Redbridge Lane, Ilford, on October 18 and died two days later.
- He also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving earlier that evening in Tavistock Place and on roads in Camden, Islington and Hackney.
- Judge Mark Lucraft KC said a custodial term is inevitable, set sentencing for February 12, and ordered an immediate driving disqualification with the ban length to be determined.
- Prosecutors told the court CCTV showed the BMW registered to Clarke-Samuel failing to stop after the collision, and the vehicle was later found significantly damaged.
- He remains in custody, and further allegations are pending, including a charge of causing death by careless driving when over the alcohol limit and an additional dangerous-driving count in Redbridge.
