Rangers Players Adam Fox and Filip Chytil Sidelined by Injuries, Expected to Miss Multiple Games

Adam Fox could be out for as long as 2-4 weeks due to a lower-body injury, while Filip Chytil's return timeline uncertain due to a potential concussion; Jonny Brodzinski called up from Hartford amid concerns over team depth.

  • Adam Fox and Filip Chytil, integral assets to the Rangers, are issuing a challenge to the team's depth due to injuries. Fox's lower body injury is due to a leg-on-leg collision resulting from a game against the Hurricanes, posed to sideline him for 2-4 weeks.
  • Filip Chytil's injury to his upper body, suspected to be a head injury, has an uncertain return schedule, especially with at least four documented concussions since he joined the Rangers in 2017, one of which was last October leading him to miss six games.
  • The only faint silver lining to these injuries comes with the timing. In the following 15-day stretch the Rangers only have four games scheduled, including a five-day gap between matches, potentially allowing for both players to return and ramp up their fitness during practices.
  • The health and continual performance of Fox had greatly contributed to the success of the Rangers, with the defenseman only missing three games due to injury and one due to being placed in COVID protocol within the first four seasons of his career.
  • The team's short-term build without Fox and Chytil is expected to be a challenge for coach Peter Laviolette, best managing the team through a strong defense and special teams. In their absence, an increase is expected in the time given to the K'Andre Miller-Jacob Trouba pair across various play scenarios.
