Overview
- Bexar County court records show 34-year-old coach BreAnn Halcumb was charged with an improper relationship between an educator and a student after school officials and investigators reviewed communications and reports of off-campus contact.
- School staff found more than 160 messages between Halcumb and the student from February through April that investigators say suggested an intimate relationship.
- Charging documents describe physical contact including kissing and fondling at a park and at the student’s home and say Halcumb urged the student not to tell others and coached her responses.
- Randolph Field ISD says Halcumb resigned and is no longer employed, the district reported the allegations to law enforcement, and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says the matter remains an active investigation.
- Halcumb was taken into custody on a felony warrant in another county and is being extradited to Bexar County for processing while investigators note the student told them she was 18 and still enrolled and have said they found no evidence the relationship became sexual.
