Ranch Fire Scorches Over 4,200 Acres in San Bernardino County

Strong winds fueling rapid spread have left the blaze uncontained with evacuation orders in effect south of Highway 18.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Phelan Posse 303 are prepared to help evacuees and their animals affected by the Ranch Fire, which was first reported on Tuesday June 6, 2025, in the area of Bowden Ranch Road and Roundup Way just south of Apple Valley.

Overview

  • The fire ignited June 10 near Bowen Ranch Road and Coxey Truck Trail and has burned 4,205 acres with 0% containment as of June 11.
  • A Unified Command led by Cal Fire, San Bernardino County Fire Department, Apple Valley Fire Protection District, Bureau of Land Management and sheriff’s deputies is managing the response.
  • Authorities have ordered evacuations for residents south of Highway 18 in Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley and opened shelters at Sitting Bull Academy and Victorville Fairgrounds.
  • Sustained winds up to 19 mph and low humidity have driven rapid fire growth, threatening multiple structures and prompting deployment of Damage Inspection teams.
  • The blaze’s cause remains under investigation as AccuWeather forecasts up to 9 million acres could burn nationwide during this severe wildfire season.
