Rampur Registers FIR Over Forged SIR Voter Forms, First Such Action in Uttar Pradesh

Overview

  • Rampur’s Civil Lines police booked Noor Jahan and her sons Aamir Khan and Danish Khan for allegedly submitting false details during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
  • Charges cited include Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 237 and 318(2) and Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, with police stating no arrests have been made.
  • The discrepancy surfaced in Assembly Constituency 37, Part 248, when BLO Nitin Agarwal’s digitisation and supervisor Dinesh Kumar’s field checks found forged signatures and that the sons reside in Dubai and Kuwait.
  • District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi directed the complaint that led to the FIR, which authorities described as the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh during the current SIR exercise.
  • Officials urged residents to submit accurate information and said inadvertent duplicate entries can be corrected through BLOs, while district teams continue digitisation and BLO training ahead of a draft roll targeted for December 16 after completing pending work by December 11.
