Ramesh Juneja Takes Charge as Council for Leather Exports Chairman

The veteran industry leader steps in with a focus on clinching EU and US trade deals to speed up export growth.

Overview

Juneja’s appointment was approved at the CLE’s 184th committee of administration meeting and takes effect immediately, succeeding R K Jalan.
He previously served as CLE vice-chairman, has been on the board for over 15 years, and has held a regional chairman role since 2024.
The council reported around 1% year-on-year growth in April–November 2025 leather and footwear exports and said shipments remain concentrated in the EU (55%) and the US (22%).
CLE says bilateral agreements with the EU and the US could lift sector exports to as much as USD 14 billion within 3–5 years from roughly USD 5.5 billion.
Juneja is the promoter of Kolkata-based JC Group and serves as vice-chairman of the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce, experience the council highlights for fostering investment and cross-border partnerships.
