Ralph Hasenhüttl Relishes First Christmas at Home After Four Years in England

The VfL Wolfsburg coach reflects on the demanding holiday schedule in English football and enjoys a return to family celebrations.

Ralph Hasenhüttl spent nearly four years as head coach of Southampton FC in England, where the holiday season included intense training and matches on December 26 and 28.
The Austrian coach described the lack of Christmas spirit during his time in England, with training sessions on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day leaving little time for family festivities.
Now coaching VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, Hasenhüttl is relishing the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with his family, free from the pressures of the English football calendar.
Hasenhüttl works alongside his son Patrick, who joined him at Wolfsburg as an assistant coach in March 2024.
After Wolfsburg's final match of the year, a 1–3 loss to Borussia Dortmund, Hasenhüttl and his son traveled to Austria to spend Christmas together before the Bundesliga resumes on January 11, 2025.
