Ralph DiMatteo, a reputed member of the Colombo crime family, has been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of racketeering involving extortion and money laundering.
DiMatteo was arrested after his son posted a photo of him shirtless in a Florida swimming pool while he was on the run from the police, which led to his location being discovered.
Despite the photo leading to his arrest, DiMatteo expressed no regrets about it, stating 'It was a great picture.'
DiMatteo's lawyer, Gerald McMahon, asked for leniency in sentencing, arguing that DiMatteo is 'old school' and ready to take responsibility for his actions.
Prosecutors, however, were skeptical of DiMatteo's claims of 'aging out' of the crime business, stating that being a member of the Colombo crime family is a 'lifetime oath.'
