Overview
- India’s defence minister will make the first official visit of his office to Morocco at the invitation of Minister Delegate Abdeltif Loudiyi on Sept. 22–23.
- He will open Tata Advanced Systems Maroc’s WhAP 8×8 facility in Berrechid, billed as India’s first defence manufacturing plant in Africa under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat push.
- Scheduled talks include bilateral discussions with Loudiyi and a separate meeting with Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour to expand defence and industrial cooperation.
- Both sides are expected to sign a defence cooperation MoU providing a framework for exchanges, training and industrial linkages, subject to formal execution during the visit.
- The defence ministry cited regular Indian Navy port calls at Casablanca, and Singh will also meet the Indian community in Rabat.
