Rajnath Singh to Lead Police Commemoration Day Tributes at National Police Memorial on Oct. 21

The national ceremony at the police memorial precedes a week of CAPF-led outreach events across India.

Overview

  • An official programme at the National Police Memorial will feature a joint CAPF–Delhi Police parade, wreath-laying by senior dignitaries and an address by the Defence Minister.
  • CAPFs and Central Police Organisations will run commemorative activities from October 22–30, including family visits, band displays, rallies, runs and blood donation camps.
  • Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will attend the state ceremony at Goshamahal Police Stadium, with the DGP noting 191 line-of-duty deaths nationwide this year, including five from the state.
  • In Madhya Pradesh, families of 11 personnel who died between September 2024 and August 2025 will be felicitated, while officials say only ASI Ram Charan Gautam’s case has been sent for the Rs 1 crore compensation announced in 2017.
  • Police Commemoration Day honours the 10 policemen killed at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959, with the National Police Memorial dedicated to the nation in 2018 as the focal site of remembrance.
