Rajnath Singh Opens DPSU Bhavan, Unveils R&D Drive as Defence PSUs Sign Key MoUs

The review set a five-year R&D outlay of Rs 32,766 crore to speed indigenisation after gains in profits and exports.

Overview

  • At the new DPSU Bhavan in New Delhi, the defence minister chaired the annual review of all 16 DPSUs and commended their role in strengthening self-reliance.
  • Three MoUs were signed: HAL and BDL will support YIL’s 10,000-ton forging press, with HAL extending an interest-free advance of Rs 435 crore and BDL assuring up to 3,000 metric tonnes of workload over ten years.
  • A third pact will create a metal bank at MIDHANI to secure critical raw materials for defence projects and cut import dependence.
  • Rajnath Singh launched SWAYAM to document green manufacturing across DPSUs, as BEL and IOL were felicitated for achieving 100% renewable energy usage.
  • The minister unveiled HAL’s new R&D Manual and a consolidated DPSU R&D roadmap, while noting 2024–25 results of Rs 1.08 lakh crore turnover, Rs 20,021 crore PAT, and a 51% jump in exports, and felicitated MIL, AVNL, IOL and HSL on Miniratna status.
