Rajnath Singh Inaugurates PTC Titanium and Superalloy Plant in Lucknow

New DRDO approvals and a BDL tie-up link the facility to AMCA and KDE2.

Overview

  • Spread over about 50 acres with an investment of roughly ₹1,000 crore, the plant is stated to have capacity to produce more than 6,000 tonnes a year of aviation‑grade titanium and superalloys from domestic and recycled sources.
  • DRDO’s airworthiness arm issued Letters of Technical Acceptance for PTC’s titanium rear fin root casting for the AMCA program and an oil tank assembly titanium casting for the Kaveri Derivative Engine (KDE2).
  • PTC and Bharat Dynamics Limited signed an agreement to collaborate—envisioned as a joint venture—on propulsion systems, guided bombs, and small aero‑engines for missiles, UAVs, and loitering munitions.
  • PTC also received a purchase order for post‑cast operations to deliver single‑crystal, ready‑to‑fit turbine blades for the KDE2, marking progress on one of the most complex jet‑engine components.
  • The Defence Minister framed the move as a shift toward designing, developing and delivering in India, citing reduced import dependence, stronger technological sovereignty, and new jobs tied to the UP Defence Industrial Corridor.
