The state will geo-tag plantings for survival monitoring under a five-year push targeting 50 crore trees.

Overview

  • Plantings span nearly 20 lakh hectares across 2,74,920 sites, with 37.51 lakh saplings at the individual level and 9.83 crore at the block level.
  • Departmental contributions reported include Education at 3.25 crore, Rural Development at 2.65 crore, the Forest Department at 2 crore, and the Pollution Control Board at 50 lakh.
  • The campaign was launched last year during Hariyali Teej under the Chief Minister’s Plantation Mahabhiyan, drawing inspiration from the prime minister’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative.
  • The government says last year’s 7 crore target was exceeded with 7.5 crore saplings planted.
  • Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma briefed Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in Jaipur as a new campaign poster was unveiled and the public was urged to keep planting through the monsoon.
