Overview
- Voting is under way at 10 designated booths in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Suket, running from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
- The commission ordered the re‑poll after reports during counting showed some EVMs failed to display votes and the number of undisplayed votes was larger than the margin between the leading candidate and the nearest rival.
- Affected booths include five in Jaipur (Wards 9, 18, 25 and 34), three in Kota (Wards 87, 44 and 11), one in Jodhpur (Ward 50) and one in Suket (Ward 4).
- Election officials will allow only voters listed on the original polling rolls to vote, will remove the old indelible mark and apply a fresh mark, may prepare new ballot and tendered papers if needed, and will seal and keep the original EVMs in safe custody after the re‑poll.
- The re‑polling could change final ward results and election officials have been told to complete security and logistical arrangements ahead of counting of re‑poll votes at 8 a.m. on September 17.
