Rajasthan Highway Crash Kills At Least 5 Pilgrims, Injures 12

Police report children among the dead, with survivors under treatment in Jodhpur.

  • Police said five people, including four children, died and 12 were injured, seven of them children.
  • A truck loaded with millet sacks rammed a tempo carrying about 20 pilgrims from Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district en route to Ramdevra, crushing the tempo’s front and overturning the truck.
  • The collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. on NH-125 near Khari Beri village in Balesar, Jodhpur district.
  • Three victims died at the scene and two during treatment, as the injured were first taken to Balesar hospital before being referred to MDM Hospital in Jodhpur.
  • Two of the deceased were identified as Kokila, 58, and Priya, 14, with identification of others continuing, and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot posted condolences.
