Rajasthan High Court Scraps 2021 Police SI Recruitment Over Paper Leak

The bench said systemic leaks plus alleged RPSC collusion vitiated the process, leaving no way to segregate tainted candidates.

Overview

  • The court annulled the 2021 selection for 859 posts and ordered those vacancies merged into RPSC’s fresh 2025 drive, with all 2021 candidates eligible to reapply and overage applicants already allowed by an interim order.
  • Justice Sameer Jain’s detailed order cited involvement of multiple RPSC members, with the court taking suo motu cognisance of the commission’s conduct and directing a PIL before a division bench.
  • SOG/SIT investigations have led to roughly 122–125 arrests, including dozens of trainee SIs and former RPSC members Babulal Katara and Ramu Ram Raika, with the probe continuing.
  • The state’s cabinet sub-committee had urged against scrapping the exam, arguing only 6.3% of candidates were tainted and could be segregated, a position the court rejected.
  • Counsel for selected candidates said they will appeal, as the case—filed in August 2024 and argued through mid-August 2025—centered on widespread leaks distributed via networks such as WhatsApp and so-called Bluetooth gangs.
