Rajasthan Governor Accepts RPSC Member Manju Sharma’s Resignation in 2021 SI Paper Leak Fallout

The decision follows a High Court order that annulled the SI recruitment after finding systemic corruption at the commission.

Overview

  • Raj Bhavan said on Monday that Governor Haribhai Bagade accepted Sharma’s resignation nearly two weeks after she submitted it.
  • Sharma stated in her letter that no investigation names her as an accused and that she resigned to uphold the commission’s dignity.
  • On August 28, the Rajasthan High Court canceled the 2021 Sub-Inspector recruitment and named several RPSC members, including Sharma, in describing a systemic compromise.
  • More than 120 people have been arrested in the case, including over 50 trainee sub-inspectors, with investigations still underway.
  • Her departure adds to vacancies at the RPSC, with six of 10 member posts reported empty, while suspended member Babulal Katara’s proposed dismissal remains pending before the Supreme Court.
