Rajasthan Floods Disrupt Transport as Rescues Intensify, Two Dead Reported

Officials warn of continued downpours after extreme 24-hour totals in Bundi.

Overview

  • Army, NDRF, SDRF and Civil Defence teams are evacuating residents in Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk, with roughly 500 people rescued in Bundi and over 100 moved to safety in Tonk.
  • Two women died in separate rain-related incidents in Bundi, and officials reported people untraced in Karauli and Uniara during ongoing search efforts.
  • Movement on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway was halted near Kota, soil erosion under the Delhi–Mumbai rail line near Laban disrupted some trains, and the JaipurKota highway was waterlogged near Deoli.
  • The Chambal river rose about two metres above the danger mark in Dholpur as authorities opened six gates at Bisalpur dam and two at the Kota barrage to release excess water.
  • The IMD recorded 502 mm in 24 hours at Nainwa in Bundi, issued a red alert for Bhilwara and Chittorgarh with orange alerts across several districts, and forecast further heavy to extremely heavy rain through Tuesday.
