Overview
- Independent Ritu Banawat, Congress’s Anita Jatav and BJP’s Rewatram Danga were questioned separately on December 19 and each denied seeking commissions.
- The committee gave Danga 15 days, Jatav 7 days and Banawat 10 days to submit documents after none could present supporting evidence during the hearing.
- Chairman Kailash Verma said the panel may summon other persons, including Banawat’s husband Rishi Bansal, and will also question the journalist who conducted the sting.
- Proceedings will remain confidential until a factual report is sent to Speaker Vasudev Devnani, after which the Assembly will decide on any recommended sanctions.
- Separately, the government has frozen the three MLAs’ local fund allocations and appointed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Bhaskar A. Sawant to lead a 15-day administrative inquiry.
