Rajasthan Escalates Zero-Tolerance Anti-Corruption Drive

The state is deploying suspensions, dismissals, pension stops, prosecution sanctions with hundreds of ongoing probes to show a tougher stance on corruption.

Overview

  • The Rajasthan government said on Sunday that it has dismissed 20 officials, suspended 332 personnel and stopped pensions for 17 retired staff as part of an intensified crackdown.
  • Officials said more than 100 cases have received prosecution sanction and the state has invoked Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act in a subset of matters to fast-track action.
  • The measures cover technical and service departments including PHED, PWD, health centres and the state water board with allegations such as bribery, trap operations, misuse of position and disproportionate assets.
  • Authorities reported that 577 investigations remain open, signalling further administrative steps and possible criminal prosecutions ahead as probes continue across multiple districts.
  • The campaign, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, extends to retired employees through pension-withholdings and aims to change official behavior by combining administrative penalties with legal action.
