Rajasthan Concludes Second Phase Of Panchayat Polling
Immediate counting will determine thousands of village leaders tonight.
Overview
- Voting was held in 3,626 gram panchayats on Oct 30, 2026, with polling run from 7 am to 6 pm and officials beginning counting as soon as polls closed.
- Turnout climbed through the day from about 19% by 10 am to roughly 61% by 3 pm and officials reported a final statewide figure near 78.77% by 6 pm.
- A total of 21,839 candidates contested sarpanch posts while 45 sarpanches were returned unopposed.
- Polling was mostly smooth but local boycotts over delimitation in villages such as Karanpur and Pooth-Ka-Bas and clashes in Pal Gaon led to detentions, vehicle seizures and police intervention over alleged bogus voting and an unsealed ballot box.
- The results will shape village-level governance and resource decisions across 124 panchayat samitis, and disputes over delimitation could influence turnout and contests in the remaining phases.
