Rajasthan Cold Wave Deepens as Fatehpur Drops to 1.9°C

The Met office warns of further night-time cooling under clear, dry conditions.

  • Friday readings show Fatehpur in Sikar district at 1.9°C, the state's lowest temperature so far this season.
  • Large swathes of Rajasthan reported minimums below 10°C, with fresh lows including Sikar at 3.0°C, Nagaur at 3.1°C, Lunkaransar at 3.2°C, Churu at 4.5°C and Pilani at 4.8°C.
  • A yellow cold-wave alert covered Sikar, Churu and Jhunjhunu for December 4–5 as conditions intensified in northern districts.
  • Forecasters expect another 1–2°C fall in night temperatures, with pockets of the Shekhawati belt likely to hover around 3–5°C.
  • Daytime temperatures also slipped, with all cities below 30°C and Sirohi the coolest by day at 21.6°C, as authorities advised residents to take precautions.
