Rajasthan Cabinet Approves Sweeping Reforms in Medical Tourism, Urban Planning and Energy

Overview

  • The cabinet approved the Heal in Rajasthan Policy-2025 to position the state as an international medical tourism destination by combining modern healthcare and traditional therapies with investment incentives under RIPS.
  • Under the Township Policy-2024, developers must allocate at least 7% of land for parks, 8% for public utilities and 5% for worker housing in industrial areas, plus sustainability measures and five-year maintenance bonds.
  • The City Gas Distribution Policy-2025 aims to extend PNG and CNG networks to smaller towns and streamline approvals through a dedicated online portal.
  • Three joint ventures with Central Public Sector Undertakings will mobilize ₹11,200 crore for renewable and conventional energy projects, backed by state equity contributions.
  • Governance reforms include increasing the Rajasthan Public Service Commission membership from seven to ten, restructuring the Rajasthan International Centre board, upgrading RUHS into the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences and enacting compassionate appointment and college renaming rules.
