Rain Showers Continue with Potential for Light Snow Accumulation
Flood watch in effect as heavy rain leads to potential flooding, temperatures to drop into mid-20s by Monday night.
- Rain showers are expected to continue through the night, with periods of steadier light rain until midnight. Winds will increase before sunrise, with gusts from the northwest near 25 mph.
- Despite the rain and wind, temperatures will stay above freezing, in the mid-30s to near 40 degrees. Occasional non-accumulating snowflakes may mix with the rain north and west of the Beltway.
- Monday will see a decrease in showers, with partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Wind gusts from the northwest near 35 mph are possible, and temperatures will drop into the mid-20s to around 30 degrees overnight.
- Rain and snow showers are possible late Tuesday into Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to near freezing. A light snow accumulation is possible, particularly on grassy areas north and west of D.C.
- The steady, heavy rain experienced over the weekend has led to a flood watch in effect Sunday morning, with potential for areas of flooding near rivers, creeks, streams and in other low-lying areas.
