Railways Schedules 3-Day Vande Bharat Between Delhi and Udhampur to Aid Stranded Passengers
The move provides relief to travelers stuck by widespread IndiGo cancellations.
Overview
- Northern Railways’ Jammu Division will run special Vande Bharat services from December 12 to 14 to help passengers affected by recent air disruptions.
- Trains 02439/02440 will make three trips in each direction with departures at 6:00 am from New Delhi and 3:00 pm from Udhampur, stopping at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt and Jammu Tawi.
- Each service will operate with 20 coaches, and passengers are advised to confirm details on the Indian Railways website or the NTES app before travel.
- The temporary rail plan follows extensive IndiGo cancellations that triggered airport crowding and protests in Jammu and Srinagar.
- Officials from DGCA, the Civil Aviation Ministry and AAI met the Prime Minister’s Office to review the flight disruptions, while railway sources say a direct Jammu–Valley service is being prepared for a potential start before year-end.
