Overview
- The services were inaugurated at Baraut station on November 24 with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officiating and Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary in attendance.
- Vaishnaw announced plans to double the Delhi–Shamli section, describing it as a forthcoming capacity upgrade rather than a completed project.
- Shamli station will receive a Rs 25 crore modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, according to the minister.
- The new MEMU trains are intended to improve mobility for daily commuters, students, farmers, and professionals along the corridor.
- The minister cited official figures since 2014 for Uttar Pradesh, including 5,272 km of new tracks, full electrification, 1,460 flyovers and under-bridges, and the operation of 34 Vande Bharat and 26 Amrit Bharat trains.
