Overview
- Northern Railway has paused platform-ticket sales at New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal and Ghaziabad from October 15 to 28.
- Western and Central Railway have applied similar curbs at major Mumbai hubs, with CSMT, Dadar, LTT, Thane, Kalyan and Panvel restricted from October 16 to 28, and Bandra Terminus from October 15 to 31.
- Gujarat stations under Western Railway—including Vapi, Surat and Udhna—are restricting sales from October 15 to 31, while Ahmedabad and Sabarmati are suspended from October 16 to 27.
- Exemptions are available for people assisting senior citizens, persons with disabilities, illiterate passengers and women who need help, with requests handled at enquiry counters.
- Northern Railway has added capacity and controls with 4,718 special-train trips, 270,532 extra seats through coach augmentations, dedicated holding areas and extra staff, as the Railways also warn against carrying inflammable items with penalties for violations.
