Railways Confirms Special Trains for Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day Travel

Ticket bookings are now open for the newly scheduled services to meet peak travel demand.

Overview

  • Indian Railways has finalized schedules for special trains operating August 8–17 to address travel surges for Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day.
  • North Western Railway will operate Train Nos. 09639/09640 between Madar and Rohtak on August 8–10 with sixteen general coaches and two guard vans.
  • West Central Railway’s one-way specials between Rewa and Bhopal (Train Nos. 01704/01703) will run on August 10 and 11, stopping at key Madhya Pradesh junctions.
  • Central Railway is deploying eighteen special services across Maharashtra, covering routes such as PuneNagpur, Mumbai CSMT–Nagpur, CSMT–Kolhapur, Mumbai LTT–Madgaon with a mix of AC, sleeper, general coaches.
  • Passengers can secure seats through the IRCTC website, reservation counters or the NTES mobile app.
