Railways Adds 1,500 Special Trains for Chhath Peak as 12,000‑Train Festive Plan Continues

  • The Railways announced 1,500 special trains over the next five days, averaging 300 daily, with 1,205 slated across the next four days as the Oct 22–24 passenger peak unfolds.
  • A total of 12,011 special trains are scheduled between Oct 1 and Nov 30, up from 7,724 last year, with 11,865 trips already notified, including 9,338 reserved and 2,203 unreserved.
  • Central Railway is running 1,998 festive specials, having completed 705 trips carrying about 10.68 lakh passengers toward an expected 30.68 lakh, with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar accounting for over half of projected travellers.
