Overview

• Over 1.87 crore candidates applied for 64,197 vacancies in the 2024–25 recruitment cycle, according to data shared in Parliament.
• RPF Constable positions saw the fiercest competition, drawing 45.3 lakh applicants for 4,208 seats—about 1,076 contenders per vacancy.
• Technician roles attracted 26.99 lakh applicants for 14,298 openings, while Assistant Loco Pilot posts had 18.4 lakh candidates vying for 18,799 slots.
• First-stage CBTs for 55,197 posts were conducted in four phases across more than 150 cities in 15 languages, with results out for major cadres and over 9,000 technicians empanelled.
• Recruitment under 10 Centralised Employment Notifications spans 1.08 lakh roles notified in 2024 and is guided by an annual calendar, digitized multi-language tests and e-KYC safeguards with no reported paper leaks.
