Railway Protection Force Steps Up Safety Campaigns With 235 Child Rescues And 27 Trafficking Victims Freed

Overview

  • Central Railway’s RPF and GRP teams rescued 235 runaway or lost children under Operation Nanhe Farishte in April and May, up from 149 during the same period last year.
  • Operation Jeevan Rakshak saved the lives of 12 passengers—nine men and three women—surpassing seven lives saved in April–May 2024.
  • Northeast Frontier Railway’s Meri Saheli drive from June 25 to 29 freed 22 minors and five adults from trafficking and handed them over to Childline, NGOs, parents and local police.
  • Rescued individuals receive counselling and safe reunification support in line with the RPF’s Suraksha (Security), Satarkta (Alertness) and Seva (Service) values.
  • Inter-agency collaboration among RPF, GRP, railway staff, NGOs and police remains ongoing into early July to bolster passenger welfare and station safety.
