Overview

  • The Railway Ministry has assigned the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) to oversee all departmental promotion exams following allegations of corruption in internally conducted tests.
  • This decision follows the arrest of 26 railway officials in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly leaking exam papers and the seizure of ₹1.17 crore in cash during CBI raids.
  • All pending Group C departmental selections not finalized by March 4, 2025, have been canceled, with no new selections allowed until further notice.
  • The RRB will implement strict measures, including randomized exam center allocation, CCTV monitoring, and thorough candidate frisking, to prevent malpractice.
  • Since 2015, over 7.7 crore candidates have participated in RRB-conducted computer-based tests without any reported instances of paper leaks or impersonation.
