Overview
- Indian Railways will expand capacity on seven Vande Bharat corridors, upgrading three 16-car trains to 20-car and four 8-car trains to 16-car after evaluating high passenger loads.
- The 20-car upgrades are planned for Mangaluru Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central, Secunderabad–Tirupati, and Chennai Egmore–Tirunelveli.
- The 16-car upgrades are planned for Madurai–Bengaluru Cantt, Deoghar–Varanasi, Howrah–Rourkela, and Indore–Nagpur.
- Officials said four 8-car and three 16-car Vande Bharat services currently operate on these routes.
- Released 8-car and 16-car rakes will be redeployed to start new services, with additional 20-car sets being readied and one more 16-car set available; separately, Western Railway will dismantle a Vasai Road FOB staircase on August 29 for station improvement work.
