Railway Board Clears 10 New Port Line Locals, Two New Halts and Faster Runs on Uran Corridor

Central Railway has been told to launch the approved changes from an early convenient date with wide publicity.

  • The sanction covers four Nerul–Uran–Nerul services and six Belapur–Uran–Belapur services on Mumbai’s Port Line.
  • Stoppages have been authorised at Targhar and Gavhan stations to improve access for growing residential and industrial pockets.
  • The order approves speeding up services on both the Nerul–Uran and Belapur–Uran sections to cut travel time.
  • The Railway Board’s communication, issued on December 3 and signed by director (coaching) Sanjay R Neelam, directs Central Railway to make necessary arrangements and publicise the rollout.
  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the approvals and thanked the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister, noting the move follows a state proposal submitted on September 25.
