Overview

  • Hamburg’s S-Bahn will suspend service between Berliner Tor and Tiefstack from July 14 to 20, with replacement buses covering the line and the S5 canceled between Hauptbahnhof and Berliner Tor.
  • S2 services will run as the S1 via Dammtor on weekdays until 21:00, while HVV advises passengers to use barrier-free U-Bahn lines U2, U3 and U4 or the RE1 from Bergedorf for direct city connections.
  • Munich’s S-Bahn Stammstrecke will face weekend timetable restrictions from Saturday 22:30 through Monday 04:40, rerouting and terminating services on alternate tracks to accommodate ongoing construction.
  • Nightly single-track operations will affect Munich’s U1 and U2 lines between Stiglmaierplatz/Hauptbahnhof and Fraunhoferstraße from July 15 to August 22 between 0:30 and 2:00 for track renewal.
  • These upgrades form part of Germany’s broader rail modernization push, exemplified by Munich’s over-budget and delayed second Stammstrecke project that has intensified passenger frustration.
