Rail Disruptions Persist Between Hamburg and Hannover Due to Torn Overhead Line

Repair work is ongoing after an overhead line fell onto a freight train, with delays and rerouted services expected until later this afternoon.

  • An overhead line was torn down near Klein Süstedt and Suderburg, disrupting train services between Hamburg and Hannover.
  • Long-distance trains, including ICE and IC, are being rerouted via Rotenburg (Wümme), skipping stops in Lüneburg, Uelzen, and Celle, causing delays of about 30 minutes.
  • Regional trains operated by Metronom are running with delays, and replacement bus services have been provided between Uelzen and Suderburg.
  • The damaged freight train is being towed away to enable repair work on the overhead line, which is expected to be completed by 16:00 local time.
  • Passengers are advised to check updates on the Deutsche Bahn website or DB Navigator app before traveling, as disruptions continue.
