Raigad Police Confirm ₹20 Lakh Contract Killing in Khopoli as 12 Are Arrested

Police say longstanding personal-political rivalry drove the paid attack.

Overview

  • Shiv Sena worker Mangesh Sadashiv Kalokhe was chased and hacked to death around 7 am on December 26 near the Vihari area in Khopoli after dropping his daughters at school.
  • Investigators identified Ravindra Parshuram Deokar as the alleged mastermind who arranged a ₹20 lakh deal, with Isha Papa Sheikh accused of brokering the link to hired attackers including Adil Mukhtyar Sheikh and Khalid Khalil Qureshi.
  • Twelve suspects, including conspirators, an intermediary and a juvenile, have been arrested, and all are in police custody remand, with officers also working to secure custody of another suspect.
  • Pune police earlier arrested Qureshi on December 30 in an unrelated robbery case, and he confessed to taking supari for the killing as authorities coordinate custody with Raigad police.
  • Raigad police formed eight teams and used technical, forensic and human intelligence to map the plot, saying five assailants kept surveillance on Kalokhe before the precision attack.
