Raiders Sign Veteran Safety Terrell Edmunds To Bolster Secondary

Following Lonnie Johnson Jr.’s broken fibula in practice, Edmunds will compete during training camp for a depth role behind the team’s starters.

Overview

  • Edmunds agreed to terms on August 10 after a tryout with Las Vegas on August 5
  • The 28-year-old was a first-round pick by the Steelers in 2018 and has started 79 career games
  • Since 2022 he has had short stints with the Eagles, Titans and Jaguars before returning to Pittsburgh and being released last November
  • Johnson’s season-ending leg injury created an immediate need for experience in the Raiders’ safety room
  • Edmunds will face competition from Thomas Harper and Chris Smith and aim to secure a roster spot before final cuts
