Overview
- Police stopped Sterling after footage showed his Lamborghini moving between lanes on the M25 and M3 before leaving the road and hitting barriers on 28 May 2026.
- Court materials and bodycam footage presented at Basingstoke magistrates’ court included multiple witness videos and showed no other vehicles were involved and no one was injured.
- Officers found several nitrous oxide canisters and a balloon in the car and prosecutors said Sterling told police he had a problem with nitrous oxide use.
- Sterling refused to give a blood sample, reportedly failed standard on-the-spot cognitive impairment checks and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide and refusing a blood test.
- He was released on bail, banned from driving and will return for sentencing on 25 November 2026, an outcome that could carry up to two years in prison though commentators expect a 12–18 month term absent mitigation.
