Rafael Nadal Returns to Tennis, Leaves Door Open for Future

Despite losing his first match back, the 22-time Grand Slam champion shows no signs of slowing down and hints at possibly playing beyond 2024.

Rafael Nadal returned to competitive tennis after nearly a year, playing a doubles match at the Brisbane International.
Nadal and his partner, Marc Lopez, lost the match 6-4, 6-4 to Australians Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion had a hip operation in June and had not played since January 2023.
Nadal has indicated that this season will likely be his last, but has not ruled out the possibility of playing beyond 2024.
Nadal is set to play a singles match against 2020 US Open champion and qualifier Dominic Thiem on Tuesday.
