Radical Harlem Councilwoman will not run again amid controversy

Harlem Councilwoman Kristin R. Jordan announced she will not run for re-election just weeks before the June 27 primary election.
Jordan's poor attendance and voting record as well as blocking a housing project that was to include space for a civil rights museum damaged her standing.
The self-described democratic socialist backs defunding the police and has provoked outrage with anti-cop statements and other controversial remarks.
Jordan's detractors welcomed her departure but wanted to defeat her at the polls.
Jordan won election in 2021 against an ill incumbent in a bit of a fluke.
