Overview

• The 37-year-old Racine man reported that a current pulled him away around 3:30 p.m., leaving him unable to swim back.
• Friends alerted authorities at about 6:40 p.m. after he was out of sight for roughly 30 minutes, with a prior report placing him 300 yards from shore half an hour before the call.
• The Racine Fire Department and Racine County Sheriff's Office Dive Team deployed jet skis, a boat and thermal imaging cameras to locate the missing tuber.
• Within about an hour of the call, dive team members on jet skis found him about a mile north of North Beach and nearly a mile from shore.
• Rescuers brought him to shore for evaluation after finding him dehydrated, exhausted and cold, and he had no phone or signaling device.
