Rachida Dati Referred to Correctional Tribunal as Justice Reviews Jewellery, Fee and Contempt Allegations

Prosecutors review undeclared jewellery, GDF Suez fees and contempt of magistrates complaints following her referral on corruption and influence-peddling charges.

Overview

  • On July 22, examining judges formally referred Dati to the Paris correctional tribunal on charges of corruption, concealment of abuse of power and passive influence-peddling alongside Carlos Ghosn.
  • Paris prosecutors and the HATVP are analyzing two signalements that allege Dati omitted 19 pieces of jewellery worth €420,000 from her asset declaration.
  • A separate complaint regarding €299,000 in undeclared GDF Suez fees for work in 2010–2011 has been transferred to the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office and is under review.
  • The Paris prosecutor’s office is also examining a complaint for “outrage à magistrat” over Dati’s LCI remarks attacking judges’ conduct.
  • Dati’s lawyers deny any irregularity in her declarations and she continues to receive public support from senior government figures who affirm her presumption of innocence.
