• Each recipient will receive $50,000 from the Dorothea & Leo Rabkin Foundation, which announced its ninth cohort on September 4.

• Portraits by Kevin J. Miyazaki have been commissioned, and a RabkinInterviews series with Executive Director Mary Louise Schumacher begins September 10 on Substack, podcast platforms, and the foundation’s website.
• This year’s jury featured Hua Hsu of The New Yorker, writer and editor Joanne McNeil, and Jessica Bell Brown of the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU.
• Since launching in 2017, the program has awarded nearly $4 million in grants, with this cohort reflecting a range of roles across local outlets, national magazines, and independent platforms, including two winners affiliated with the Cherokee and Comanche Nations.
