Overview
- ADIF’s program will double the single-track section between Parets del Vallès and La Garriga and install a new traffic-management system at Montcada-Bifurcació to relieve bottlenecks.
- Service is scheduled to be cut between L’Hospitalet and La Garriga until May 2026, then limited to Mollet Santa Rosa–La Garriga through January 2027.
- Renfe’s road substitute offers up to 43,500 seats per day, with a central hub at Barcelona’s Fabra i Puig, Centelles as the main interchange, and direct buses to La Garriga (hourly), Centelles (every 30 minutes) and Vic (every 15 minutes).
- Around 90 trained informers will assist passengers at key stations, and Renfe estimates average journeys will take 20–30 minutes longer for the roughly 21,000 daily users affected.
- Hours before the planned shutdown, a loss of electrical tension between Mollet del Vallès and Torelló halted R3 services from L’Hospitalet to Ripoll, prompting emergency buses between Fabra i Puig and Vic.
